Terrace to Meadow

A very challenging site sat upon a steep Somerset hillside. Formerly a small cottage with large sloping garden, the clients were undertaking a major extension and renovation of the house and wanted a garden to match. The brief was centred on developing a space to work with the extreme slopes, creating a series of spaces with unique styles whilst remaining sensitive to the rural location.

Green and Gorgeous designed a terraced garden with generous steps and access leading up to sweeping lawns and beds. The garden gradually blends out into the natural environment with the use of wildflower turf and naturalistic planting. Pergolas add further form framing the views and creating shade. Other features include a vegetable garden, wildlife pond and dining terraces.

Traditional materials work with the rural landscape and natural environment, natural stone paving and walls contrast with wooden features whilst planting brings year round interest.

Project Year: 2022
